We are delighted to introduce Saratu Audu, one of the esteemed judges for the Chinwe Russell Art Prize 2025. Saratu brings a unique blend of legal expertise and artistic innovation to the judging panel, offering a fresh perspective rooted in both discipline and creativity.
A family lawyer turned artist, Saratu’s multidisciplinary practice spans across painting, textile design, and sculpture. Her work breathes life into a variety of mediums—from creating vibrant paintings that are transformed into textiles for clothing and bedding, to sculpting intricate pieces using metal clay and glass.
Saratu’s artistry has captivated collectors across the globe, with her works held in private collections in England, Scotland, Nigeria, Canada, the United States, Poland, and Australia. Her ability to fuse functionality with fine art has earned her a distinctive place in the creative world.
Beyond the studio, Saratu embraces the rhythm of the tidal Thames, rowing at least three times a week, weather permitting. Her dedication to both art and sport reflects her passion for challenge, balance, and precision—qualities that make her an invaluable part of our judging panel.
We are thrilled to have Saratu on board and look forward to her insightful contributions in recognizing and celebrating the ingenuity of Nigerian artists.
